Enduring to the end!

Crucial Passages

God is very clear in His Word concerning His people’s preparedness prior to His Son’s - our Lord Jesus Christ’s - glorious return. Time and time again we are told to watch. "Be ready," our Lord admonishes us.

In obedience, one clear way to do so is to be in His Word. Don’t let the deceptions of today’s darkness keep you from reading. God has given us crucial counsel for today. Why is it that the basic disciplines of a dynamic relationship with the most high God seem the most difficult to practice on a regular basis? The world, flesh and the devil are threatened by this, so much so, satan (he doesn’t even deserve the honor of capitalization of name) goes all out to keep prayer and Bible reading in check. How are you doing in your life of devotion with God?

If we neglect the passages God has graciously given for the very purpose of equipping us to better discern the many false teachings which will be propagated in the days of the end, will we not be making a conscious choice toward contributing to our very own deception as a result of casting aside the very means (His accurate revelation concerning the days of the end) which He has provided to help us avoid becoming deceived? This concept is so essential, to the degree we’d ask you to reread this paragraph once again for emphasis’ sake.

With that in mind, go to the following passages and, after praying Psalm 119:18, take joy in what God has clearly revealed to you! While this list is obviously not exhaustive, it does include many major end-time passages. Write to us about how God brings blessing as you fellowship with Him in this way. If you do so, let us know if we could include your write-up on our upcoming "Comments From Some of our Readers" page.

  • Many O.T. stories tell of God’s faithfulness through difficult days. The lives of Joseph, Ruth, David and Esther present precious testimonials toward this worthy end;
  • The Psalms speak of God’s deliverance and help in challenging circumstances;
  • The Book of Daniel includes both stories and prophecies pertinent for today. When you read the first six chapters, look for the main themes, for they are exactly what we need in preparation for the days ahead;
  • Jeremiah also addresses many related topics the New Testament highlights as crucial end-time concerns;
Precious are the insights He offers to those who take the time to ponder these truths that transform.  The list continues ...

  • In Matthew 24, 25 (see also Mark 13; Luke 17,21; John 16), our Lord Jesus is speaking about our day - the days immediately preceding His return;
  • I Corinthians 15 includes the secure hope in Christ Jesus and the sweet rapture event. Note that it is at the "final trumpet" when this gathering takes place;
  • I Thessalonians 4, 5 offer important teaching on the rapture (4:13-18) and "the times and the seasons" (5:1-11). These truths are for us, today;
  • II Thessalonians 2 brings essential teaching on preparedness, even though false interpretations have been used to cloud the clear truths over the past century. Just read and observe what it is saying. Put aside some of the speculative offerings of theological giants. God’s intent in communicating His message to us is well within our reach. He has brought revelation to us with the intent of informing us. He does not seek to hide these truths from the final generation but has promised to unseal them in the time of the end;
  • I Timothy 4:1-5 is another awesome paragraph loaded with eschatological (end-time) truth. It even speaks to the purifying ministries of two big appeals of this ministry-the power of God’s Word and prayer;
  • II Timothy 3:1 - 4:5 also address our day, and guess what!? The Word is once again pointed to as a crucial part of our life in God. It’s beautiful, this section;
  • I and II Peter include themes and specific end-time address throughout their pages. It’s wonderful how God has included revelation that speaks so pertinently to our day yet through which He has also brought great ministry over the millennia - only in our awesome God Who alone is worthy of all praise!  And,
  • I and II John also contain absolutely essential material, and don’t forget the book that completes God’s revelation to us - the Book of Revelation. This book is completely devoted to the proclamation of our worthy God’s glory and praise while informing the reader about the closing chapters of human history. Here again, the blessings of the content are for those who read, listen and keep the instruction (Rev. 1:3).
There are many other passages that will serve to bring great insight and blessing to us if we but take the time to read. DO NOT LISTEN TO "pastors" who would discourage you from reading these passages, for they are those who mislead into the hands of the great deceiver. Also be discerning about those who would offer interpretations that are not clearly seen in the text. Our great foe, satan, is using this weapon of false teaching in the church as much as he is using other tactics.

"Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account." Hebrews 4:11-13 (NKJV - emphasis mine)
